Teaching
“A garden of growth can be cultivated only by generously offering children fulfilling relationships to tether themselves to . . . It is in our gardens that [young people] must feel free to express what is within their hearts without fear of repercussion to our relationship, and where the person they become slowly takes shape, free of pressure and the need for performance . . . when we take care of children’s relational needs and ensure that their hearts are soft, nature will take care of the rest.”

My relational developmental approach is borne out of deep respect for and appreciation of young people. I ground my teaching in collaborative play and responsive, developmentally-appropriate feedback that engenders emotional safety. Young people are a joy, and I consider it my responsibility and privilege to understand them in order to create the conditions for them to thrive.

I have experience teaching clown and beginning trapeze to 6-14 year-olds; leading in-school residency activities and designing age-appropriate curricula in theater arts for middle school and early high school students; tutoring Individualized Education Program students in elementary, middle, and high school; and directing youth theater.
As part of my self-designed undergraduate major at Pitzer College, I completed academic work in early childhood social and emotional development, and as a graduate student at NYU I worked as a teaching assistant.
