Clown

"The clown sees the world in a soft way and enjoys the feeling of the wind as it blows through the soft brain. The clown sees something beautiful and falls in love. The clown hears a loud noise and is scared. The clown sees something sparkly and tries to catch it...Without shame or awareness of its own simplicity, the clown valiantly and courageously enters the world with the thundering cry, "It's me!" in search of pleasure: the pleasure of play, movement, sound, chaos, and the pleasure in the big noise that an audience makes all together."

Discovering The Clown

  • Bato is my clown. She is full of wonder and in hot pursuit of fun. She loves people and tries valiantly to win them over through the traditional clown arts of juggling and balloon animals, but she is very bad at both.

  • The seed for clown was planted for me around age 9, when I was the clown in the circus at Independent Lake Camp. I came back to comedy in my  twenties, completing the improv training programs at iO and Second City in Chicago and The Magnet in New York. Now devoted again to clown, I’ve trained with Pandemonium Studio in New York and Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Etampes, France.

  • I’ve performed at block parties, birthday celebrations, the Bozeman Farmers Market with 406 Cirque, and the Baltimore Book Festival with Center Stage.
